As reported by BET, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is rejoicing following his triumph in the $1 billion “Power” lawsuit brought against him by former drug kingpin Cory Ghost Holland Sr. Holland purported that the artist-turned-TV executive crafted the popular crime drama using his life story.
According to AllHipHop, Judge Analisa Torres recently dismissed the lawsuits, ruling in favor of 50 Cent and his media empire, as the series was determined not to depict Holland’s life.
In 2021, Holland initiated legal proceedings against 50 Cent, "Power" co-creator Courtney Kemp, Starz, and Lionsgate, alleging that the series extensively drew from his personal experiences without his consent. Holland claimed that he had shared his story through a CD sent to Kemp’s father, seeking assistance to break away from his criminal history.
In a separate lawsuit, Holland accused 50 Cent of harassment, claiming that the rapper dispatched his associates to intimidate him. Additionally, Holland sued Lionsgate and Starz, alleging that they failed to protect him from threats made by 50 Cent and his supposed associates.
Remaining true to his character, 50 Cent couldn't resist injecting a bit of humor following his legal victory. He shared a screenshot of the headline reporting his win and added a comment reflecting his thoughts on the filer of the lawsuit:
