As reported by Blavity, the highly anticipated film Magazine Dreams, which was previously embroiled in controversy following its star Jonathan Majors' involvement in domestic assault and harassment charges, is now set for a major theatrical release after a year of being shelved.

According to a report from Variety, Briarcliff Entertainment, known for producing popular films such as the Donald Trump biopic The Apprentice and the supernatural thriller Don’t Let Go, has acquired Magazine Dreams and is gearing up for a 2025 theatrical release. This comes after Searchlight Pictures relinquished the film due to Majors' legal issues.

In a statement regarding the acquisition, Briarcliff Entertainment expressed their belief that the film, written and directed by Elijah Bynum and centered around a bodybuilder's pursuit of iconic status in his field, deserves to be seen by audiences.

The studio has set an "early 2025" release date for the film. Briarcliff CEO Tom Ortenberg commented on the acquisition, stating, “Elijah’s film made a well-deserved splash in Sundance and Briarcliff is looking forward to taking his story to the big screen across the country in early 2025,” as reported by Variety.

He also praised Jonathan Majors' performance, saying, “Jonathan Majors’ transcendent performance as Killian Maddox will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the most compelling and transformative roles in recent cinema history.”

Ortenberg continued, “We are honored to bring this extraordinary work to theaters nationwide, inviting audiences to witness a story that will resonate long after the credits roll.”
