Updated: Sep 30

As reported by 4WWL, New Orleans has appointed the renowned musician and entrepreneur Percy Robert Miller Sr., also known as 'Master P', as the city's entertainment ambassador for Super Bowl LIX. In a statement released on August 30th, Mayor Cantrell expressed her confidence in Master P's ability to bolster the city's entertainment industry and link New Orleans to a host of special events and opportunities, effectively solidifying its presence on the global stage.

The city's latest endeavor will see the implementation of a "Hollywood South Collaborative," a series of master-class settings tailored to provide mentorship and instruction in fundamental entertainment business skills.

"Our efforts will be focused on film, television, and entertainment, as well as business, as I want to showcase the growth I've achieved," remarked Master P. "Having grown up in the New Orleans projects, I managed to transform my life through education and exposure. I aspire for the city of New Orleans to experience the same."

Master P is set to kick off his new role by participating in the NOLA Insight Podcast next month, where he will engage with key figures in the entertainment industry.

A New Orleans native, Master P attended Booker T. Washington High School and Warren Easton Charter School.

He pursued studies in Business Communications and later established his inaugural venture, a record store named No Limit Records, in Richmond, CA. This enterprise eventually evolved into a record label that has become "one of the biggest music brands in the industry," eventually expanding into television, film, acting, sports, clothing, and real estate, as detailed in the release.

Mayor Cantrell praised Master P, stating, "He's deserving of all the love, all the praise, for demonstrating the resiliency of this community and that there's no limit to accomplishing great things for the city of New Orleans," according to Nola.com.
