Dancehall champion Vybz Kartel recently made an unexpected appearance in the official music video for “Sixteen” by Rvssian, Vybz Kartel, and Trippie Redd. Some may think this is a small thing, but that’s only if you’re not familiar with the current happenings with Vybz Kartel.
Vybz Kartel, born Adidja Azim Palmer in Kingston, Jamaica, is a well known dancehall/reggae artist convicted of murder in 2014 and is now serving a life sentence in prison with parole eligibility upon serving a minimum of 35 years.
Not deterred by his lengthy prison sentence, Kartel continues putting out new music. This new release with Rvssian and Trippie Redd was no different than his usual business of putting out “jam worthy” music, but what has fans more excited than usual is the ability to see Kartel in this new video release.
The entity that brought Kartel to the screen this time, versus using old footage from prior video recordings, is the least expected ally, artificial intelligence. Despite the many worrisome minds that think AI is all bad and is going to be the downfall of humanity, this time AI got it right. We have gotten new music from Kartel and new visuals as if he was right there delivering “chunes” alongside Rvssian and Redd.
A Vybz Kartel look-alike was used to match the body type of Kartel and Kartel's facial features applied to the look-alike for a "real world" effect, thanks to VFXByRez.

One fan commented on the YouTube video saying, “Man I almost cried... I have no words. Just none. This is beautiful”. Another fan commented on the video stating, “A million tears cried, Addi we love you King of Dancehall forever”.
