What Type Of Money Was Made In The Tyson vs. Paul Fight?

As reported by CBS Sports, in a remarkable display of grit and determination, Jake Paul secured the most significant victory of his career on the night of November 15th by outpointing the legendary former champion Mike Tyson. Although some critics may persist in adding qualifications to every performance he delivers inside the ring, defeating a former undisputed heavyweight champion, even at 58 years of age, stands as a notable achievement. Coupled with this career milestone is the astonishing financial reward Paul is set to reap from the event.

The financial details of the bout remain under wraps, as neither Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions nor the Texas Athletic Commission disclosed the fighters' purses. However, estimates circulating online suggest that Paul's earnings from this fight could reach around an impressive $40 million, a figure Paul himself touted in an interview leading up to the match. Meanwhile, Tyson’s earnings are speculated to be in the vicinity of $20 million, as reported by Henry Cejudo, a close friend of the former champion and two-division UFC titleholder.

"I'm here to make $40 million and knock out a legend," Paul confidently declared at a pre-fight press conference.

While he fell short of delivering the knockout, Paul undoubtedly achieved his financial goal. The event drew a substantial crowd to AT&T Stadium, where Most Valuable Promotions announced that they had set a new Texas record for live gate receipts, totaling $17.8 million. This surpassed the previous record established by Canelo Alvarez during his victory over Billy Joe Saunders at the same venue in 2021.
