When Sharing Goes Bad, DJ Paul of Three 6 Mafia Sued For Just That

According to a report from TMZ , DJ Paul of legendary Hip-Hop group Three 6 Mafia is being sued for sharing content without permission. Now you’re probably wondering, “What did he share that could cause him to get sued?” My first thought would be something music related, but that’s not the case at all. It seems DJ Paul has a thing for “natural disaster” videos and shared one that’s now coming back as a monetary disaster.

The content in question is a dashcam video of a tornado touching down in Elgin, Texas that Paul posted in March of 2022.

A company named Viral DRM claims it owns the rights to the clip of the tornado Paul posted on his Instagram.

Viral DRM says the clip was shot by a man named Ronald Brian Emfinger but the company says they now own the rights to the video. They say DJ Paul posted the clip on his account in March 2022 without permission.

Viral DM is now suing for damages, claiming its ability to make money from the clip was harmed by Paul's posting.

If lyrics are used in this trial, it may not go well for Paul, as he has been recorded on the Three 6 Mafia song “Stay Fly” stating:

“DJ Paul is a dog, one you do not trust

You leave your green around me, ni**a your green gon' get lit up

You leave your drank around me. Believe your drank gon' get drunk up

You leave your girl around me, if she bad, she gon' get stuck”

It kind of gives the impression that DJ Paul takes things without permission on a frequent and conscious basis….

Though all in good humor, the main takeaway is, “permission” and “content sharing” are becoming a social media power couple.

Expect to see them hand in hand, dancing to and from the bank…
